Simplify Data Lookups in Excel

Let’s face it – many Excel users are reluctant to learn the Lookup Functions (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, MATCH, INDEX) because they think that they are complicated. And they are … until you use them a few times.

Let me show you a very simple way to find the cell value in any “intersection” of Column and Row. There are only two steps:
1) Create Named Ranges for the data in your Columns and Rows
2) Use the “Intersection Operator” – The SPACE – e.g. =Region_2 Week_16

The SPACE between Region_ 2 and Week_16 tells Excel to lookup the INTERSECTION of the Named Ranges in the formula.

It is that simple. In the video, see the equivalent formula that uses MATCH() and INDEX() – to produce the “Same Result!”
